The main problem is public perception of a fundamentally flawed industry and the publics almost enforced reliance upon the integrity of their chosen Contractor. The presence of so many 'cowboys' within the industry makes this choice a lottery, as the Press is constantly reminding us.

Large amounts of time, effort and finance are wasted daily on unnecessary changes, ill-advised detail and poor construction quality - all these need to be controlled. Exploding the myth of a supposedly complicated industry and establishing a database of honest, reliable Contractors are among the key aims of the Building Advice Centre.

Established businesses already exist in this field, but they are often seen as unapproachable, expensive, and only interested in total management of high cost developments. We are interested in the problems encountered by all building schemes and will respond to any enquiry, or request for support - no matter how small the project.

The Public, Builders and ultimately the Building industry will benefit from a 'one stop' provider of advice, guidance, support and supervision services that are both high quality and affordable. Market research shows that almost every householder has had a bad experience relating to the building industry and that almost without exception had it existed, they would have approached an organisation like Building Advice for support.
